Most kids commit crimes. Those locked up in juvenile prisons are more
likely to commit crimes as adults than are those left alone. So, why
do we lock them up? What drives such counterproductive programs that
create such misery despite demonstratd failure to achieve their
purported ends? And how can we alter our approach? We speak with Nell
Bernstein.
Nell Bernstein is the author of Burning Down the House (forthcoming from The New Press) and All Alone in the World (The New Press), a Newsweek "Book of the Week." She is a former Soros Justice Media Fellow and a winner of a White House Champion of Change award.
